About Rachel

Rachel Shubin began "We Have a Situation"/Sandpiper Cat Blog, after she took in a pregnant foster cat, named Sandpiper - Piper for short. During the first night of fostering, at only 40 days along, Piper miscarried her kittens. Rachel nursed her back to health, and Piper never left the house!

Even though Rachel's family adopted Piper, Rachel continues her blog today, to chronicle her cat related life, product reviews and giveaways, as well as cat lifestyle topics that she finds interesting.

Piper came to the family through Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, a rescue that Rachel, her mom, dad and brother, have been volunteering with, since 2005. Rachel's family spends almost every Friday night at PetSmart, volunteering to get cats adopted out.

Rachel was a senior in high school when she started Sandpiper Cat Blog. Rachel is continuing her education at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia as a freshman Communication Studies Major with a concentration in journalism.
